16 Nov 2011 – Network Box wins the Asia Pacific Information Communications Technology Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2011, Security Category, for its new ‘Z-Scan’, in-the-cloud, zero day anti-malware technology.
The Awards Gala Dinner event was held on 11 November 2011 in Thailand. The Hong Kong APICTA 2011 team topped the leader-board with 5 wins and 9 merits. Network Box’s Z-Scan won First Place in the Security Category, and Michael Gazeley, the Managing Director of Network Box, represented Network Box on stage to receive the trophy.
“We won for Z-Scan, our ground breaking Zero Day Anti-Virus system, with it's ultra high speed 3 second real-world response to zero day viruses, and subsequently to zero day spam as well. It was a great feeling to win on behalf of both our hard working Network Box software engineers, and also the Hong Kong IT community as a whole.” said Michael Gazeley, the Managing Director of Network Box.
“We last entered APICTA in 2004, and won then as well. Back then, the win was largely for our PUSH technology, which brought signature release times down from the traditional several hours or days, to just 45 seconds. This time, the win is for Z-Scan, our cloud based, zero day anti-virus system, which can react to new threats in as quickly as three seconds, from the time that threat first appears in the cloud, to us being able to block it for all our clients around the world.” said Mark Webb Johnson, CTO of Network Box.
APICTA is an international awards program which aims to increase ICT awareness in the community and assist in bridging the digital divide. APICTA's 16 member-economies include Australia, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
