It should be noted though that Network Time System can simultaneously use two time protocols: its own protocol NTSv2 with enhanced functionality (256-bit AES encryption, network-wide licensing management, client settings distribution, UDP broadcasting support) and the world´s most widely used NTP/SNTP. The former is used for time sync of Windows workstations, the latter - for non-Windows computers and NTP/SNTP compatible devices and hardware (e.g. switches, routers, IP cameras, etc).

Client-server architecture of Network Time System allows the customer to set up one or more time servers for hosting and operating thousands of time clients. The client part of the software can be installed on workstations and devices throughout the network in a couple of minutes. Both NTS Server and NTS Client are native 32 and 64-bit compiled executables which run as system services and support all versions of Windows, from Windows 2000 to Windows 8/Server 2012.
