Peter Nevill in action for the NSW Blues

NSW wicketkeeper Peter Nevill helped Australia A reach 239 all-out with fighting half-century on day one of their Four Day fixture against South Africa A in Townsville (August 7).

Batting at number seven, Nevill was the mainstay of the Australian innings with his 53 not out coming off 133 balls with six fours.

He shared a 34 run partnership with Matthew Wade (32) before putting on 61 runs for the seventh wicket with Michael Neser (31).

Nevill then featured in the field late in the day, taking a catch off Neser to leave South Africa 1-26 at stumps after 11 overs.

Peter Nevill was one of the stars of the NSW Blues Sheffield Shield win in 2013/14.

The 28-year-old scored 472 runs at 39.33 with a top score of 100 not out. He also captained the Blues on several occasions and led the Cricket Australia XI in a match against England.
