Karlsruhe, 05.08.09 -

German provider of Web conferencing solutions introduces new executive management team - founder Schweinbenz turns his attention to new projects.

Dr. Andreas Schweinbenz, CEO and founder of Netviewer AG, has chosen to leave the company he founded eight years ago. A serial entrepreneur, Dr. Schweinbenz led this provider of Web conferencing services to a leading position in its market. He is leaving to pursue new business ideas. Jörg Mayer and Lars Thomas will join CFO Robert Gratzl on the Netviewer executive board.

Karlsruhe-based Netviewer AG has captured a position of leadership in the global market for Web collaboration software and is now the top European provider. After founding the company and leading it through several years of very strong growth, Dr. Schweinbenz foresees a new era: "With the forward-looking management decisions made, the time is right for me to retreat from daily operations and take up new projects." Netviewer was profitable just five months after its founding in 2001. The company’s rapid growth was accompanied by many awards and honors, including Deloitte Fast 50, Convergator of the Year, and Entrepreneur of the Year

The Netviewer AG executive board will consist of Robert Gratzl, (Chief Financial Officer since 2008) plus new members Jörg Mayer and Lars Thomas who were promoted from within the company. Jörg Mayer, previously Vice President of Product Marketing, will now be responsible for sales and marketing. Jörg Mayer joined Netviewer in 2008 from Web.de, where he was responsible for digital products as Head of Portal Pay Products. He was previously director of business sales at Telefónica in southern Germany. Lars Thomas, previously Vice President of Research and Development, will be responsible for product development and operations. The 37-year-old gained his technical know-how at several Karlsruhe-based software companies and is one of the most experienced Scrum coaches in Germany

Dr. Schweinbenz will remain the largest non-institutional shareholder and will continue to serve Netviewer AG as Chief Strategic Advisor in order to ensure continuity in the company’s strategy. "His knowledge and instincts for our business are extremely valuable to our company. The supervisory board and I are very pleased that he will remain closely tied to the company," according to Robert Gratzl.
