Perthshire jewellery business, Byers & Co may only have been open for a matter of weeks but already the store’s unique range of handmade contemporary jewellery has attracted a host of admiring customers from across the country.

“So far it is going really well,” said jewellery designer, Linda Byers. “There was lots of hard work involved in getting the shop renovated ready for opening, but I had great support from Business Gateway and I now have a lovely place to work in.”

With an impressive CV that includes a placement creating jewellery in Germany and involvement at London Jewellery week 2012, there was no doubt Linda had the perfect set of credentials to launch her new venture, although she also knew that she would benefit from some specialist business support.

“Business Gateway has always been there to help me,” continued Linda. I’ve attended the free workshops, received valuable advice from my Business Adviser, and they even put me in touch with further contacts.

“I’m really enjoying being able to make things for a living, speaking directly to my customers, and of course, being my own boss is a huge bonus.

“Looking to the future I’d love to open up a second shop and workshop, to further expand my brand and creations. “
