Australian professional golfer Nicky Litherland will be playing on the upcoming NGA Pro Golf Tour for the 2012 season having been granted “full exempt” status.

Phoenix, AZ, December 10, 2011 - (PressReleasePoint) - The NGA Pro Golf Tour, formerly the NGA Hooters Tour, will welcome Nicky Litherland to the ranks when he commences competitive play at the “Members Only Shootout” at Black Bear Golf Club in Florida from February 21st to 24th 2012.
The Twin Waters, Queensland, resident is an accomplished amateur golfer having competed at an elite level and achieving memorable results. Nicky’s accomplishments include the defeating of current tour professionals Brett Rumford and Scott Strange in junior events in 1991 and 1992 respectively and the winning of the Royal Fremantle Junior Open. In 1991 Nicky was awarded the prized “Carbon Cup” for his continued high level of performance as the number one ranked pennant player. Since rekindling his competitive edge Nicky’s more recent achievements include winning the Channel 9 Golf Day and runner-up by a stroke in the Make-A-Wish Toll Charity Golf Day; both in June 2009. More impressively Nicky won the Highway Christian Masters Amateur event three times, in 2010, and took out the Club Championship winning by 15 strokes. Prodigious length off the tee coupled with his deft touch around the green will hold Nicky in good stead on the NGA Pro Golf Tour in 2012.

The 37 year old father of three daughters, and husband to wife Tiffany, is embarking on fulfilling a lifelong dream to play golf as a tour professional after opting to provide adequately for his family in senior business positions for a number of years. “I want to attain the highest level possible as a professional golfer”, says Litherland, “I do not want to look back on my life and regret not having pursued my dream”. To commemorate the initiation of his dream Nicky Litherland created his own brand NL Golf.

The NGA Pro Golf Tour has long been viewed as one of the top professional tours in the world. It is the number one developmental professional tour in the United States and the 3rd best all-round tour in the nation next to the PGA and Nationwide Tours. The NGA Tour proudly boasts that many of the world’s current PGA champions advanced through its ranks and is honored as a tour where Professional Golfers play in an elite competitive tournament environment. The 2012 NGA Pro Golf Tour season is no different with a total annual payout of over 5 million dollars under its sanctioning body; an elite level of professional golfers will once again grace the fairways of the nation, exemplifying its continued growth and prestigious tour position.

“The NGA is extremely excited to have a player such as Nicky Litherland, who has had such an outstanding amateur and professional career, joining our tour for the upcoming 2012 season”, says Ryan Waters, NGA Pro Golf Tour Vice President, “Nicky has proven to be one of the top up and coming golfers in the world and it will be exciting to see him put his skills to the test against some of the top players in the world.”
