VANCOUVER, Wash. USA March 13, 2014 – To meet the demand of a multitude of markets for low-cost, high-precision and high-throughput thin film patterning, nLIGHT is introducing the TFP-500 Laser Patterning Solution. Thin film patterning of metal traces and transparent conductors is now being offered to diverse markets, such as touch sensor modules, displays, flexible electronics, photo-voltaics, and the internet-of-things sensors including: medical, automotive, and wearable electronics.
Based on a radically different approach to laser patterning, the TFP-500 achieves the lowest-cost patterning results through the use of innovations in high peak-power fiber lasers, very high speed scanners with the largest field-of-view available, and proprietary control software to achieve very high accuracy across the entire 500mm by 500mm field-of-view.
In the touch sensor industry, the TFP-500 can achieve substantially lower cost per patterned film than photolithographic patterning and higher resolution than screen print patterning. Metal trace conductor patterning has already been qualified to 20 micron line / 20 micron space dimensions.
