NRDC: It’s Time to Protect Ourselves and Future Generations
WASHINGTON (July 17, 2014) – The following is a statement from Natural Resources Defense Council President Frances Beinecke on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s “State of the Climate in 2013” report released today:
''Scientific warnings about a potential planetary catastrophe are coming at us at a faster and more furious pace than ever. But so is the array of cost-effective cures, such as carbon pollution limits on power plants and the many immediate measures to mitigate the destructive effects of a warming planet that are already here. Many states, cities and communities are stepping up to do what's right to protect us, our children and all future generations. It's time for everyone else to follow.''
