Nominations Mark Countdown to Portsmouth Training Awards

Portsmouth businesses are preparing for the inaugural training awards hosted by Catch22 South East Training.

Portsmouth, UK, 8th April 2009, PressReleasePoint - Apprentices and their employers are to celebrate workplace learning at an inaugural awards ceremony hosted by Portsmouth training organisation Catch22 South East Training.

Up to 250 learners and business representatives are expected at the event in Portsmouth FC’s Fratton Park stadium on Thursday (16 April, 2009).

The awards are designed to highlight the success of apprenticeships in child care, health and social care, sport and recreation and business administration.

The achievements of young people seeking to enter employment or college on a training programme called SET4 Life will also be recognised.

Businesses nominated for awards include Marriott Hotels, Farlington Day Nursery, Beals Estate Agents, Horizon Leisure Trust, The Co-Op (Horndean), Ethel Austin (Cosham) and Asda (Fratton).

Jacqui Lawrence, Executive Manager of Catch22 South East Training, said: “These awards celebrate the fact that work-based learning helps many people to get on in life by attaining the skills they need and the education they deserve. For businesses facing these tough economic times, apprenticeships can provide a bespoke, enthusiastic workforce that can help boost resilience and efficiency.”

Catch22 South East Training is the Portsmouth-based training division of national charity Catch22.
