Nova Medical Centers inaugurated the first National Conference on Ambulatory Surgery

India's first Ambulatory Surgery Conference inaugurated in Bangalore on September 2nd, 2011.
The conference happened on 2nd and 3rd September, 2011 at Vivanta by Taj, Yeshwantpur.
Indian Society of Ambulatory Surgery (ISAS) launched at the Conference.
80 eminent national and international faculties addresses over 350 delegates.

Nova Medical Centers, India’s first multi-specialty standalone Ambulatory Surgery Group today inaugurated the 1st National Conference on Ambulatory Surgery and launched the Indian Society of Ambulatory Surgery [ISAS] in Bangalore. The Conference will take place today and tomorrow, ie 2nd and 3rd September 2011 at Vivanta by Taj in Yeshwantpur. The inaugural function was held on the evening of 2nd September under the auspices of his Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Hon’ble Mr. Justice N. Santosh Hegde. Ambulatory or Short Stay surgeries are procedures that take between 24 - 72 hours from admission to patient discharge.

The Conference is organized by Nova Medical Centers, pioneers in standalone Ambulatory Surgery Centers in India. The Conference will provide a platform for Surgeons across specialties, Physicians, Nurses, Administrators, Quality Assurance Auditors, Biomedical instrument manufacturers and other Healthcare delivery professionals working in Ambulatory Surgery set-ups for sharing learnings and discussing cases of interest. The conference will include learnings from Ambulatory Surgery models in the US, Scientific Sessions, discussions on safety practices and Quality Assurance.

The Conference is endorsed by various noted medical bodies such as Ambulatory Surgery Centers, USA, Indian Medical Association and Surgical Society of Bangalore. The Government of Karnataka has sponsored Govt. Doctors to attend the Conference in order to improve healthcare delivery in smaller towns and remote locations.

The Conference also witnessed the launch of The Indian Society of Ambulatory Surgery [ISAS]. ISAS will aim to encourage and advance the study and practice of the science of day and short stay surgery. The body will provide support to Surgeons in clinical training, educational and social activities. In addition, Nova and ISAS will work in the areas of patient education and helping the poor with free medical and health-check camps.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Suresh Soni, Chairman and CEO, Nova Medical Centers, said “Ambulatory Surgery is poised to play a big role in the Indian healthcare delivery system. Having pioneered the model in India, we felt it was Nova’s duty to take the leadership in the formation of an Association for Ambulatory Surgery”
