O2 Growing Its Customer Base in 2010 by 59.2%

Bratislava - In 2010, Telefónica O2 Slovakia reached revenues amounting to € 111.7 mil. representing a 50.5 % increase against previous year. In the last quarter of 2010, O2’s revenues accounted for € 32.8 mil., which was a year-on-year growth by more than 42.6 %. As at December 31, the company’s customer base grew by 59.2 % to over 880 thousand. In the last quarter of 2010, O2 recorded a positive operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA), likewise in 3Q 2010.

“Also in 2010, O2’s revenues and number of customers grew at a considerable double-digit pace. At the same time, in the given year we reached also a positive operating profit. Successful financial and operating performance along with satisfaction of our customers testify to the fact that transparent and customer experience-oriented approach has been paying off for us,“ stated John McGuigan, Chief Executive Officer of Telefónica O2 Slovakia.

In 2010, O2’s revenues grew year-on-year by 50.5 % to € 111.7 mil.. In the fourth quarter itself, they reached € 32.8 mil., which is by 42.6 % more than in a comparable period of previous year. Average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) in prepaid services achieved in 2010 the level of € 8.4, ARPU with postpaid customers represented   € 19.0.

As at December 31, 2010, the number of active customers recorded more than 880 thousand. Compared to a comparable period of previous year, it represents a year-on-year increase by 59.2 %, meaning from the beginning of 2010, O2 recorded a net growth of customer base by nearly 327.6 thousand. This growth was driven by a     52.8 % year-on-year growth in prepaid customers to 545.9 thousand, while the number of postpaid customers rose year-on-year by 71.0 % to 334.5 thousand.
Starting from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010 users transferred to the O2 network 141,716 telephone numbers.

At the end of December 2010, the mobile operator Telefónica O2 Slovakia was covering with its own network as much as 94.9 % of Slovakia’s population. This coverage allowed nearly 89 % of calls to be performed on net. The remaining 11 % calls were performed within the national roaming scheme. The share of on-net calls increased against the end of previous year by almost 4 percentage points.

On the basis of a survey by the independent agency Ipsos Tambor and Telefónica O2 Slovakia, O2 reached yet again the highest level of customer satisfaction from among all Slovak mobile operators. O2’s Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) reached an all-time high, as well as the highest difference compared to our competition.
