COLUMBUS

, Ohio

, January 22, 2010— The Ohio Employee Confidence Index increased 0.9 points to 49.1 in December, according to the latest Spherion

®

Employment Report. The monthly survey conducted by Harris Interactive®on behalf of Spherion Corporation (NYSE:SFN), shows that fewer workers believe more jobs are available, however, more workers are confident about finding a new job.

Results from the Ohio Employment Report:

  • Only four percent of workers believe that more jobs exist, a decrease of 12 percentage points from November.

  • More workers (43 percent) are confident in their ability to find a job, a nine-percentage-point increase from the previous month.

  • Seventy-two percent of workers are confident in the future of their employer, an increase of 13 percentage points from November.

"

The continuing upward movement of the Employee Confidence Index is a positive sign that, despite the concern over the number of jobs that exist, workers are feeling slightly more optimistic

," said Robert Schulte, Spherion franchise owner in Ohio. "As more reports emerge about increased projected hiring in the first part of 2010, workers will more than likely remain cautiously optimistic while waiting for companies to begin hiring."
