Oklahoma Mediation Course Addresses Family and Divorce Conflicts

Tulsa, Oklahoma- A comprehensive 40-hour course that delivers the essential basics of family negotiation and mediation practice will be held in Tulsa from Wednesday, February 10th through Saturday, February 13, 2010.

The course meets the training requirements for professional mediators to qualify under the Oklahoma District Court Mediation Act and is approved by the Oklahoma Bar Association for mandatory continuing legal education (MCLE). “This interactive mediation course addresses the financial, legal, social and psychological dynamics of family and divorce mediation”, said Shelly Harvill-Kamm Director of the Tulsa office. Attendees will examine mediation techniques used in divorce, property division, custody, effective parenting plans, division, custody, visitation, grandparental matters, elder issues and cohabitation disputes.

Judges throughout Oklahoma are referring disputes to mediation in the hope that parities might resolve matters on a voluntary basis and avoid the stress and expensive of a legal court battle. Economic stress has elevated mediation as a cost effective way to address family matters and address interpersonal conflict, creating a rise in demand. Individuals who complete the course will receive a certificate and be qualified to assist in resolving a family and divorce matters.
