Olacabs recognized as ‘Best Startup of the Year’ by IAMAI at 3rd India Digital Awards

Olacabs, India’s largest aggregator of car rentals and point-to-point cab services was declared ‘Best Startup of the Year’ by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) at the third edition of the prestigious India Digital Awards.

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India., January 22, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) -Olacabs, India’s largest aggregator of car rentals and point-to-point cab services was declared ‘Best Startup of the Year’ by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) at the third edition of the prestigious India Digital Awards.
India Digital Awards are organized by IAMAI to celebrate excellence in the Internet and mobile value added service industry. The awards applaud work in six main categories namely, Digital Advertising, Website, Mobile VAS, Digital Payment, Digital Social and Economical Empowerment, and Special Awards.
More than 800 entries across six categories and 31 sub-categories for the internet and mobile value added services industry were received for the awards. The winners were selected by distinguished members of the jury which included Rajan Anandan, Managing Director & Vice President, Sales and Operation, Google India; Abdul Khan, Senior Vice President and National Head of Business Marketing, Reliance Industries, Dinesh Agarwal, Founder & Chief Executive Officer and Alok Mittal, Managing Director, Cannan Partners, among others.

Olacabs is known for integrating technologies like GPS, real time traffic alerts and demand analysis to create a seamless car rental experience for its customers. Ola has also developed India’s first mobile applicationthat enables customers to book and track a cab till it reaches them, in real time. The app provides users instantaneous confirmation of booking along with necessary details like the name of the cab driver and vehicle number, distance from the user’s location as well as expected time taken to reach the location. The app also tracks and shows the real time movement of the cab from its location to the location of the customer, on a map.
Recently, the company also launched its On-Demand Cab Tracker SMS facility to offer the same level of predictability to customers who do not book through Ola’s app.On booking an Ola cab through any medium, the customer is provided the usual details and a phone number. With a simple missed call to this number, the customer gets an SMS that tells him how far away the cab is, and how long it will take to reach him. This service is free for all customers.
