Olympus Announces Executive Promotions

Donna Miller and Elizabeth Sullivan Recognized for their Leadership at Olympus Corporation of the Americas

CENTER VALLEY, Pa., June 16, 2010 -Olympus, a precision technology leader designing and delivering innovative solutions in its core business areas of Medical and Surgical Products, Life Science Imaging Systems, Industrial Testing and Measurement Instruments and Cameras and Audio Products, announced the promotion of Donna Miller and Elizabeth Sullivan in conjunction with its recent Annual Management Meeting. Both executives report directly to F. Mark Gumz, President and CEO of Olympus Corporation of the Americas.

Miller has been promoted to Corporate Vice President and General Counsel. She joined Olympus in 2006 as Director, Human Resources and was promoted to Deputy General Counsel in 2008. Miller also was appointed Ethics Compliance Officer in 2008.  She continues to deliver value and expertise to the company with her vast knowledge and experience in employment law.  Her new responsibilities will include furthering the Legal Department’s risk identification and mitigation initiatives as it provides services to numerous Olympus subsidiaries and affiliates throughout the Americas. She graduated cum laude from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia.    

Sullivan, who joined Olympus in 2002, has been promoted to Vice President, Corporate Communications, a newly created position. She originally joined Olympus as the company’s first Director of Corporate Public Relations and was promoted to Executive Director of Corporate Communications in 2006. In her new role, she will be responsible for further developing initiatives to enhance the value of Olympus’ corporate brand through strategic public relations, corporate brand reputation and positioning initiatives, as well as expanding opportunities to leverage internal communications programs that enable the company to increasingly engage with and inform its nearly 4,000 employees in the Americas. Sullivan graduated cum laude with a B.A. in English from Hamilton College.
