Former AOL VP Joins E-Commerce Team

PALO ALTO, Calif. — Oct. 5, 1999 — OmniCell Technologies announced today that Benjamin A. Horowitz has joined the Board of Directors. Horowitz brings many years of Internet experience to the company’s E-Commerce initiatives for the healthcare supply chain.

Benjamin A. Horowitz joined OmniCell’s Board of Directors in September 1999. Mr. Horowitz has served as a Vice President of AOL E-commerce Technology Platform for America On-line, an Internet service provider, since March 1999. From July 1995 to March 1999, Mr. Horowitz was employed by Netscape Communications, an Internet Company, in various capacities, including Vice President of the directory and security product line from 1997 to 1998. From 1994 to 1995, Mr. Horowitz was employed by Lotus Development Corporation. Mr. Horowitz received as B.S. degree from Columbia University and a M.S. in computer science from the University of California-Los Angeles.

"OmniCell has a tremendous opportunity to succeed in e-commerce,” said Horowitz. “One of the most important components of conducting business over the Internet is to get clients to your site. OmniCell already has deep relationships with its client base of over 1200 customers and a vast knowledge of the healthcare supply market. Adding the Automated Requisition and Procurement Service will greatly benefit OmniCell clients and healthcare in general.”

"The addition of Ben Horowitz to our board of directors brings great depth in the e-commerce arena,” said Shelly Asher, president and chief executive officer. “Very few individuals have the Internet and e-commerce experience that Horowitz has. We are excited about leveraging that experience as we automate the supply procurement process in healthcare.”
