One Hot Summer in City of Hollywood @ Marsh Mastering

Unrelenting heat in the City of Los Angeles clearly lead to more artists hiding out in the air-conditioned comfort of the studio this summer. Mastering business remains brisk in Hollywood.

Musician/Producer Randy Emata stopped in to master a new album titled Grace for Christian artist Tim Cantwell with mastering engineer Stephen Marsh. Grace is dedicated to Tim’s brother Benji Cantwell, a noted Christian performer, who passed away tragically 5 years prior to the release of the album in August of 2004. Producer Stuart Brawley along with partner in crime Joe Corcoran from The Backyard Studios paid a few visits to SMM this Summer beginning with mastering sessions for Aaron Barnhart’s debut release Missing Pieces with Marsh. The trio also mastered the sophomore release Spain for Florida buzz-band Between The Trees and a debut release for singer-songwriter Cindy Santini, a treat for the ears and the eyes. All three artists are signed to Bonded Records.

Hollywood neighbor and Mixing specialist Andy Ellis mastered an EP, also with Marsh, for Melbourne singer/songwriter Sarah Saunders. ‘Sweetdreams’ is set for international release this November 6th.

Mastering Engineer Stephanie Villa has been working with a slew of promising indie acts this summer including Observers & Telescopes, The Trademark, & Phonocast, which features members of The All-American Rejects and October Fall. Electronica junkies can look forward to upcoming Villa mastered releases from the soundscape artists Nest of Seven (previously known as Toltec) and the Depeche Mode inspired Simple Human Element.
