Cincinnati, Ohio, November 12, 2008 OpenEdit DAM is a dynamic and full featured Digital Asset Management solution.

OpenEdit's digital asset management solution was originally designed to be a web-based front end for Canto Cumulus server. While OpenEdit DAM has grown into a standalone Digital Asset Management solution, we find that many users still wish to use their Cumulus server database as a back end and OpenEdit as its web-based front end. Recently, we posted instructions on our website http://www.openeditDAM.com explaining how to integrate OpenEdit DAM with Canto Cumulus.

What follows below is a summary of how OpenEdit evolved from a web content management solution to an enterprise digital asset management solution integrated with web content management and more.

Until about three years ago, open source OpenEdit CMS, a 100% pure web application, had been used almost solely as a web content management and ecommerce solution by many corporations and universities.

Things changed when a Canto Cumulus client approached OpenEdit, Inc. to discuss additional web-based feature sets required by their management team - these requirements were outside of the realm of capabilities Cumulus WPP and ICP provided at that time. The client was satisfied with their Cumulus archive server and would continue to use that, but wanted to integrate OpenEdit CMS as a replacement to Cumulus WPP and ICP, in order to achieve their goals.

OpenEdit web content management had much of the functionality the client requested and what functionally it didn't have, it was easily customizable to suite their needs. Some of the requested features and functionality included Unlimited Concurrent Users - No Software Restrictions, Content Management, Ecommerce, Usage Tracking and Synchronization for Remote Locations. We integrated OpenEdit with Cumulus archive server and it became a great success for not only our original client but for other Cumulus users as well.

Since that time, OpenEdit Digital Asset Management has continued to be developed with the support of corporations in need of an enterprise archive solution used to store, organize and manage digital files. The built-in integration of OpenEdit's modules, including web content management and ecommerce, provide a strong foundation in which to manage and control digital repositories across entire organizations within their workflows.

Today, OpenEdit DAM is a dynamic and full featured Digital Asset Management solution used by companies around the globe. OpenEdit is open source and free to download and use, however we offer our software consulting services to companies interested in using our services to help in the deployment and development of OpenEdit DAM for their Digital Asset Management and Web Content Management needs.

OpenEdit software consultants also continue to deploy OpenEdit solutions for companies interested in integrating OpenEdit DAM with their current Canto Cumulus archive server or who have an interest in moving from Cumulus to an OpenEdit DAM solution only.

Rich with features such as XMP support, Versioning, Multimedia support, RSS feeds, Content Management, Usage History, Reporting, Ecommerce, LDAP support and Pluggable Database Storage, OpenEdit DAM software will always be free to use, including all major releases and each and every update. No client licenses are ever needed.
