Operation HOPE Receives State Farm Good Neighbor Citizenship Grant Award

NEW YORK CITY – March 30, 2015 – Financial dignity empowerment nonprofit, Operation HOPE’s disaster financial recovery and preparedness division, HOPE Coalition America (HCA), announced today that it has received a State Farm® Good Neighbor Citizenship Grant Award. The $10,000 grant will help residents in the New York metropolitan area prepare financially for emergencies or natural disasters.

HOPE Coalition America is pleased to have the support of State Farm in helping build citizens who are better prepared with their finances,” said Oliver Bell, Chief Executive Officer of Southern Region and Director of HOPE Coalition America. “These funds will help HCA staff and HOPE Corps volunteers conduct free workshops and seminars to provide individuals, families and small business owners with step-by-step Disaster Financial Preparedness Plans for the next man-made or natural disaster.”

When disasters strike with little warning, unprepared victims often suffer the worst financially and struggle the longest, which is why State Farm chose to collaborate with Operation HOPE’s disaster financial recovery and preparedness division, HOPE Coalition America. Through HCA, State Farm believes that the number of individuals and families that take actions before emergencies or disasters will increase and they will recover sooner after a disaster.

Most believe disasters only affect others, and do very little to prepare.  Many only consider such natural disasters as hurricanes and earthquakes as real emergencies, when everyday incidents such as home flooding, fires, and chemical spills can have devastating effects on families and businesses.
