Orion Health Opens New Office in Paris (January 12, 2012)
Auckland, New Zealand, January 12, 2012 == Paris has become the latest city to enter the Orion Health fold. The opening of an office there brings the Kiwi company’s total to 14 international offices with more on the drawing board.
In the official opening of the Paris Office, New Zealand’s Ambassador to France, Rosemary Banks, referred to ‘Orion’ as one of the rare constellations visible in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres.
Orion Health founder and CEO, Ian McCrae, is happy with the analogy and attributes much of Orion Health’s own meteoric growth to a commitment to putting offices and staff into countries to support the company’s global ambitions. It’s a lesson all exporters should learn early on, he says.
His goal is to see Orion Health, now New Zealand’s largest privately-owned software exporter and a world –leading ehealth company, remain Kiwi-headquartered. This philosophy, enthusiasm and drive to becoming a locally-based multi-national was cited as one of the reasons newly-appointed board member Andrew Ferrier, former Fonterra CEO, not only joined the board but also invested in the company.
As well as offices throughout Australia, the UK and Spain, Orion Health has added to its existing three USA offices with a base in Phoenix Arizona, to service its main market. In-roads into the Japanese healthcare market are being supported with an office in Tokyo.
With Orion Health’s recent acquisition of part of Microsoft’s healthcare business, it has also added a fourth development centre in Thailand to the company’s Auckland, Christchurch and Canberra bases.
It is, according to McCrae, all parts of the global jigsaw that will see Orion Health continue to post year on year record growth, and become a billion dollar software company.
“On the back of this growth, clearly we are now ramping up our search for good software engineers, designers and developers,” said McCrae. “We had previously signalled we were looking for around 100 more staff, but with the new ex-Microsoft products we are confident these numbers will rise.”
Mr McCrae said Orion Health was not only a draw card for expat New Zealand talent wanting to return home, but also offered significant international experience through its growing network of offices around the world.
