TOKYO, Japan - March 4, 2014 - ORIX Corporation (TSE: 8591; NYSE: IX), a leading integrated financial services group, today announced that it has been selected as "Nadeshiko Stock" by the Tokyo Stock Exchange ("TSE") in recognition that it is a company that promotes women playing an active role in the workplace, including the development of an environment in which women can continue to work.
The TSE selects and announces stocks (themed stocks) based on specific themes and indexes to encourage interest in stock investment among individual investors. The selection and announcement of the themed stocks is part of the TSE's "+You" project (Plus You: The Japanese economy for each and every one) which aims to support the Japanese economy. The "Nadeshiko Brand" marks its second selection round this year. As in the previous fiscal year, the TSE and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) have jointly implemented this initiative based on the theme of encouraging women in the workplace. From among companies listed on the TSE first section, 26 companies, one in each business sector, were selected from the point of view of women in the workplace and financial indicators.
ORIX was selected this time in recognition of the percentage of women in management positions within the ORIX Group rising to 14%. This was achieved as a result of establishing Diversity Promotion Team to its Human Resources Department from 2007 and holding trainings and seminars according to age and position as an initiative to promote the careers of women. It was also recognized for the appointment of one female outside director and one female executive officer.
Based on its human resources strategy of "Keep Mixed," ORIX aims to create workplaces that maximize the diverse values and expertise of its employees by embracing diverse human resources, regardless of nationality, gender, age, or work history.
