Ottawa Indie Action Movie Goes to Hollywood!

Jamie and Eddie: Souls of Strife”, an indie action feature directed by African filmmaker Pascal Aka, will screen at this year's Action On Film Festival on June 27th 2009 - the biggest action film festival in Hollywood. The movie has been nominated for 2 awards: Best Action Sequence and Best Foreign Film of 2009.

This year's Action On Film Festival will feature over 400 films from around the world including Canada, Australia, England, Africa, Thailand, Germany, Sweden, Japan, China, Russia, Italy, Spain, and all over U.S.

THE STORY OF THE FILM IS SET IN A SCHOOL DESIGNED FOR FUTURE SECRET AGENTS AND WARRIORS. JAMIE AND EDDIE ARE TWO FORMER BEST FRIENDS TURNED RIVAL HONOR ROLL STUDENTS, WHO COMPETE FOR A VALUABLE SCHOLARSHIP THAT WILL ENABLE THEM TO TRAIN IN THE UNITED STATES. IN ORDER TO PROVE TO THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT THAT HIS CANADIAN STUDENTS ARE WORTHY, THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL INVITES A TERRORIST ON TOP OF THE U.S. HIT LIST TO COMPETE WITH HIS STUDENTS. THIS LEAVES JAMIE AND EDDIE WITH NO CHOICE BUT TO JOIN FORCES AGAIN. THE YOUNG MEN ARE LEFT WITH A BATTLE FOR A PRIZE AND FOR THEIR LIVES.

“Jamie and Eddie: Souls of Strife”, an ambitious martial arts action movie was directed and produced by Pascal Aka, a graduate from Carleton University's film program. Aka, who was only 19 years old at the dawn of this production, decided to develop this project while attending university full time.

This movie was produced entirely in Ottawa and involved the participation of over 80 local actors, actresses and film crew. The project has been accepted in California's largest action film festival where they have been nominated for two categories.

After 2 years of production, 61 days of shooting, the movie "Jamie and Eddie Souls of Strife" is having a successful run in the independent film circuit in Hollywood, putting the Canadian film industry on the map.
