With local government and the corporate sector making redundancies across the UK and the support for Regional Development Agencies dwindling due to swingeing cuts, employers and employees could be forgiven for thinking they have nowhere to turn for outplacement and redundancy support but one Nottingham company has seen it all before...

Nottingham, UK, August 05, 2010 (PressReleasePoint) -- The Changekey Partnership have worked stoically over the last 18 years to provide support to HR managers and those faced with impending redundancy. Jeff Priestley, senior partner at The Changekey Partnership recently commented: "We've seen a distinctive rise in enquiries from both highly skilled employees in niche management positions and also HR managers faced with aiding the transition of large groups of staff, from positions they've likely held for years, to the prospect of returning to the job market."

Historically the cost of outplacement services has been prohibitive to many companies, allowing them to offer support only to senior management and executives and often the reduction of personnel staff within companies has meant that the resources required to assist the leaver are not available. Even the task of preparing a simple CV, which by nature is very time consuming, adds an additional burden to the often untrained and overworked staff, resulting in increased workload and associated stress. It’s at this time that professional, cost effective help is required.

Jeff Priestley further commented: "The consequences to organisations that don't support those being made redundant can be dire. Let's face it, those employees who keep their jobs 'the survivors' are often expected to pick up extra work without additional pay and I often hear comments from these employees such as 'I may have may have survived but do they really care?' which can lead to the loss of highly skilled and essential staff at a critical time. He further stated: "Employers need to listen and take action early on in the redundancy cycle to prevent this lowering of moral - since recent research has shown that employers, who help their redundant staff get back into employment as soon as possible, maintain a positive company image, whilst demonstrating to the remaining workforce that they care." Jeff asserted: "A solution to maintaining positive survivor morale is to do as much as practically possible to help redundant staff in their transition into new employment, resulting in those remaining feeling confident and more secure."

The Changekey Partnership provide career coaching and practical Job Search Support, either stand-alone or through specific redundancy programmes. The outplacement services, redundancy guidance and careers advice they provide is completely flexible and can be tailored to suit all budgets and requirements.
