As the new Bruce Hall starts to emerge out of the ground, ANU has turned its focus towards retaining, restoring and reusing as much of the original furniture as possible in the new building.

Several original Bruce Hall items of furniture - including the Warden's and Master's chairs, mechanical clock, baby grand piano, honour boards, lecterns and artwork along with a number of settees, tables, armchairs and other furniture items will furnish the new hall when it is opened in 2019.

However a number of furniture items that could not be retained are now being offered to members of the University community. ANU staff and students are being invited to purchase pieces of furniture from the old Bruce Hall that aren't being transferred into the new facility once it has reopened.

The pieces include chests of drawers that were designed by Fred Ward to fit into Bruce Hall's wardrobes, solid timber bookshelves with dovetail joins at the edges, side tables and desks.

To view and purchase the items that are being sold, visit allbids.auction/anu-flash. You'll need to register and then click the 'continue' button on the welcome screen to see the listings. If you need further assistance you can view instructions here.

Purchases will need to picked up from the warehouse by 23 December. Money raised from the sale will go back into preserving and growing the Bruce culture and community.
