Park Soccer Earns Two Player of the Week Awards

The American Midwest Conference announced the Players of the Week Monday, Sept. 1 and two Park soccer players were named for their efforts on the field. Senior goalkeeper Alisha Hoskins has been named AMC women's defensive player of the week and sophomore Cyril Gadu has been named the men's offensive player of the week.
Gadu has only played in two games for the Pirates, but he's already making a name for himself. Gadu scored two goals in his first game for Park against University of St. Mary and scored the game winning goal in the second overtime on Saturday, Aug. 30 against Avila University.
"This is going to be great for his confidence," said head men's soccer coach Efrem Shimlis. "I hope he continues to help the team and continues to be an option for us."
Hoskins has yet to allow a goal this season and had five saves against Avila. Hoskins is currently in the top 10 in five different categories in the Park record book. Look for her to move up the career records this season in fewest goals allowed, minutes and saves.
"Alisha has been great for us the past three seasons," said head women's soccer coach Ken Hefner. "She had a good game against Avila, and I know she's going to continue to make saves for us."
Both men's and women's soccer teams are 2-0 on the season. The women play no. 24 Benedictine College on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Atchinson, Kan. at the BC Soccer Complex. The men return to action on Sept. 10 against Baker University at Liston Stadium in Baldwin City, Kan. at 7:00 p.m. after the women's game at 5:00 p.m.
