Partnering for Outcomes: the Future of FM Contracts

With only one day to go until Workplace Futures 2013, Workplace Law’s Managing Director, David Sharp, is preparing to deliver a conference session based on research into outcome-based contracts in facilities management.

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom., February 11, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) - As part of an esteemed programme of conference speakers, David Sharp will be presenting the session, alongside Bev Burgess, Director of The Capsicum Group. The research and subsequent white paper, which will be given to all delegates, evaluates the benefits and potential pitfalls of one of the most innovative ways of working. 
 
Despite outcome-based contracts being a natural element of strategic partnerships between clients and their service providers and an increase of their use in the FM sector, there remains confusion surrounding what constitutes an outcome-based contract, and how this differs from contracts that are input- or output-based. David and Bev’s session aims to provide clarity and guide users to the situations where they would be most appropriate.
 
David Sharp says:
“We know from previous research that high performing FM operations use this type of contract more than their peers.  We also know that outcome-based contracts are a natural element of strategic partnerships between clients and their service providers, predicted by many recent studies to be increasing in the FM sector.  But they’ve been described as difficult to establish, difficult to measure, and hard to say if you’ve achieved or not, so do the benefits of such contracts outweigh these difficulties?”
 
The session, ‘Partnering for outcomes: the future of FM contracts’, is scheduled to take place in the morning at the annual Workplace Futures conference, where the realities of outcome-based contracting will be unveiled.
