) was issued 5 claims under United States patent number 7,983,301for its Short Message Service (SMS) for wireless communications invention.

O2Micro's invention uses a method that extends SMS capabilities, thereby enhancing a mobile device’s ability to transmit short messages over a wireless communication network.
