Pearson and MIT consider the role of technology-enabled learning on the path to efficacy

Education experts and entrepreneurs gather at the MIT Media Lab to debate the link between personalized learning and outcomes

BOSTON — Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, today hosts a dialogue at the MIT Media Lab with education leaders from across the United States to consider how technology-enabled learning programs can drive measureable improvements in education. This event follows Pearson’s announcement last month of its commitment to report learning outcomes across its business by 2018.

Pearson’s Chief Executive John Fallon and Chief Education Advisor Sir Michael Barber will discuss their commitment to achieving efficacy in education as part of a half-day conversation in which education leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers, researchers and teachers will review the likelihood that current developments in learning analytics will enable better learning outcomes, and consider how this might be measured.

Mitchel Resnick, Head of the Lifelong Kindergarten research group at the MIT Media Lab; Kati Haycock, President of the Education Trust; and Nadya Dabby of the Office for Innovation and Improvement at the U.S. Department of Education will also share their reflections on the opportunities digital learning offers with the group.

Sir Michael Barber, Pearson’s Chief Education Advisor, said:
