Alyssia Portee from University of Florida, joined Next Step Connection's Professional internship program during the summer of 2009 and was placed with Grebstad Hicks Communications Shanghai, one of Asia's leading boutique PR agencies.

Shanghai, China, September 01, 2009 (PressReleasePoint) -- Alyssia Portee from University of Florida, joined Next Step Connection's Professional internship program during the summer of 2009 and was placed with Grebstad Hicks Communications Shanghai, one of Asia's leading boutique PR agencies. With Alyssia's previous work experience and bubbly personality, NSC was certain she would be able to take on the challenges that the company has to offer.

As an intern, Alyssia was immediately assigned to a major private event for the flagship Barbie store in Shanghai. Located on Shanghai's prestigious Huaihai Road, the store hosts six floors of over 1,600 Barbie merchandise, along with a real fashion runway, full-service day spa, doll design center and more.

The private event, appropriately titled Paint the City Pink, was one of the week's highlights, a number of Shanghai's premier medias showed up to cover the party, a list of Shanghai's hippest trend setters are also on the VIP list. Not wanting to miss out on the fun and this rare opportunity to party with Shanghai's elites, Alyssia was lucky enough to have a number of Next Step Connections' interns showing up to show their support.

Leading up to the event, Grebstad Hicks kept Alyssia busy by exposing her to a number of responsibilities spanning from guest coordination and organization to souvenir packaging and distribution. During the event itself, she was at the front of the line, catering to the media and guests professionally.

Attendees had high expectations for the event and they were not disappointed. Paint the City Pink definitely brought more name recognition for the Barbie Store, as it had the media talking for weeks after. The success of this event and the experience of interning with Grebstad Hicks has afforded Alyssia the opportunity to further explore her people and organizational skills. That, coupled with immersing herself in a completely different culture during her stay in Shanghai, has allowed her to gain a whole new sense of confidence and respect.
