Executives of Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and PLDT recently encouraged members of the San Francisco-Silicon Valley community to take advantage of the various partnership, startup, career, and volunteerism opportunities in the Philippines.
Speaking at the Philippine consulate in San Francisco were [from left to right] Smart head of corporate innovation and IdeaSpace Foundation president Earl Valencia, Smart and PLDT public affairs head Mon Isberto, PLDT first vice president for the small medium enterprise group Kat Luna-Abelarde, and Smart postpaid head Kathy Carag.
The executives said opportunities abound in the Philippines which is one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, and which has a “young, social, and enterprising” population. They also shared how PLDT and Smart are enabling and helping expand businesses through their suite of connectivity, mobility and machine-to-machine solutions.
Also highlighted during the talk were opportunities for volunteers in the field of disaster preparedness, in light of the recent disasters that have hit the Philippines.
The talk was organized by Smart, IdeaSpace Foundation (USA), the Philippine consulate in San Francisco, US TV program Power ng Pinoy, and the Science and Technology Advisory Council of the Philippines—Silicon Valley.
The speakers were among the Smart and PLDT executives who flew to Silicon Valley to meet with officials of top tech companies there and discuss how the latter’s tech solutions, startup culture, and talent solutions could be used to further enhance PLDT and Smart’s services and work practices.
