Live Demonstration: Hall 4A, Booth 128

NÜRNBERG, Germany, Embedded World Conference, Feb. 24, 2014PLX Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLXT), the global leader in PCI Express® (PCIe®) silicon and software connectivity solutions enabling emerging data center architectures, invites attendees of this weeks Embedded World Conference to join a live PLX® demonstration of external box-to-box connectivity using optical and copper cabling via the universal PCIe standard.  The company also will showcase its current generation of PLX ExpressLane™ PCIe Gen3 switches, highlighting the devices’ exceptional performance and easy plug-and-play connectivity, along with the benefits of their integrated direct memory access (DMA) engines.

Optical solutions can be a key enabler for network architects who want to enhance system performance using PCIe as an I/O technology for data center connectivity.  Using PCIe to natively connect servers, switches and storage elements can lower overall system costs by reducing, if not eliminating, the number of protocol conversions.  Additionally, this increased system simplicity provides networks with latency, power and dollars-per-gigabit advantages.  Fiber optic technology offers increased link distances, lower size/weight, and higher performance.  Furthermore, fiber is becoming increasingly more affordable as a cabling option.

ExpressLane Gen3 switches with integrated DMA engines benefit designers while functioning as an independent data mover, able to transfer blocks of data between all I/O devices connected to the switch ports without CPU involvement.  This centralized DMA engine means the processor or chipset no longer needs to incorporate DMA, which results in lower costs and software consolidation.

PLX is the worldwide market leader with over 70 percent market share in PCIe switch products, today offering 18 ExpressLane PCIe Gen3 switches.  The company has more Gen3 switches in development to enable its ExpressFabric® initiative, enterprise storage, and other key cloud/data center applications, while in parallel is planning for PCIe Gen4 products.

Find PLX Technology February 25-27, 2014, at the Nürnberg Exhibition Center, Hall 4A, booth 128, co-located with its global distribution partner, Avnet.  For registration and conference information visit http://www.embedded-world.de/.
