PODS® Containers Line Up to Help Collect More Than 350,000 Toys During Operation Stocking Stuffer

PODS® Houston teamed up with the Houston Fire Department to provide moving and storage services to transport and store the generous outpouring of toys from the Houston community

HOUSTON, Texas, United States., January 7, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) - During the 2012 Operation Stocking Stuffer toy drive, Houstonians were encouraged to drop off a new, unwrapped toy at any Houston Fire Department (HFD) stations during the months of November and December to help families experience the joy of Christmas.
 
As a result, more than 350,000 toys were collected, highlighting the importance of local business support and logistics needed to help store and transport the generous donations. PODS^® Houston, a moving and storage company, worked closely with the HFD to collect and safely store the bevy of toys by contributing safe and secure PODS^® containers.
 
“We are so happy to have been able to help the Houston Fire Department collect and distribute gifts for our less fortunate neighbors just in time for Christmas,” said Phil Dvorak, managing partner for PODS Houston. “Our storage containers work really well to support nonprofits, especially with logistic needs. We look forward to helping Operation Stocking Stuffer again next year.”
When the toy drive came to an end in December, PODS helped transport the 350,000 donations to a warehouse to be sorted through, helping save the HFD thousands of dollars in moving and storage logistics. The toys were later distributed at the giveaway event, which helped about 15,000 families with financial hardships.
