Paris – March 7, 2014 - Couchriding is a new project sponsored by Sosh and Polaroid and is the first networked participatory road trip, beginning March 10 to April 4, 2014. The road trip is comprised of five professional riders in three categories, BMX, skate and snowboard, traveling around California.
From March 10 to April 2014, Matthias Dandois (BMX), Maxime Charveron (BMX), Sam Partaix (Skate), Anne-Flore Marxer (snowboard) and Rémy Taveira (skate) will be riding all across the West Coast of the United States. They are depending on fans and followers to post challenges and tips on the internet of where to go and what to do while they are in California. In addition, followers who submit tips and challenges are entered to win fun prizes, including a Polaroid Z2300 instant digital camera. In order to get on board, you need to be connected!
From Couchsurfing To Couchriding Born in 2004, the trend of Couchsurfing has revolutionized the way we communicate by connecting people’s culture, and has its roots in the notion of helping each other, solidarity, sharing, respect, generosity and curiosity. It is a simple idea: to offer your couch to the travelers passing by to sleep in for free and then have a couch in return anywhere in the world from someone of the community when needed!
From that moment, the trend of doing ”co” things is born and now you have carpooling, co-lunching, co-holidays, etc. and it is becoming an international trend. It is part of the philosophy the riders share: a good address, a hand, and a ride. They are asking the people of their community to help them out wherever they are. This is how the concept of couch riding is born, a connected and common project.
In addition, the riders will be taking fun pictures and videos along the journey with the Polaroid Z2300 instant digital camera and posting them to their social channels as well.
Another Version of The Ride Movie?
The best moments of these 3 weeks of traveling in California will be gathered into a movie which will be previewed in Paris and then broadcasted on TV. To follow the philosophy of Couchriding, two different versions of this movie will be developed with two very different directors: Thibault Dumoulin and Thibaut Grevet.
Their work will definitely be different from the traditional “Ride” movie and will include a touch of soul.
