The Helsinki police is investigating a serious crime against human life and health, which is related against the preparation for crime against the university. Two persons are held in custody for preparation for crime. There are no further suspects and the danger is over. During their preliminary investigation, the police is investigating the motive for the crime and the activities of the suspects.

The police informed the university about the case. Since the police has declared the investigation secret, the university cannot comment upon the case to the staff or the students. The police will inform about the case.

At the university all the procedures of security have been checked and they are considered sufficient. All the facilities have a security plan. There is a safety guide in three languages. The university has a security group and a Security Manager.

Last night a person was found dead at the Institute of Biotechnology in Viikki. The police is not investigating this as an accident and there is no suspicion of crime. The two cases have no coincidence with each other.
