This portable, multi-function fiber identifier is commonly used to display transmission direction, identify multiple signal frequencies and detect close packed fiber and pigtails.It is an ideal tool for engineers and technicians to identify excessive loss and dark or live fiber.
This optical fiber identifier, model GAO820,utilizes macro-bending technology to avoid disrupting network communications. Normal communications can be maintained with minimal signal loss while the device identifies transmission direction, speed and relative signal strength. This unit detects various types of signals, including continuous wave, live optical transmission and low frequency modulated tones at 270Hz, 1000Hz and 2000Hz. Therefore it is used in the physical layer testing of SONET/SDH & DWDM systems.
