Mendelssohn Club is a 140-voice symphonic chorus whose mission is to perform the great masterworks, often paired with lesser known masterworks and innovative cross-genre works. We expand the choral art through the commissioning of new works, the advocacy of new artists, and the development of new audiences.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE
As a full time employee, the Executive Director works in partnership with the Artistic Director and the Board to develop and implement strategies that achieve the goals and artistic vision of Mendelssohn Club. The Executive Director reports to the Chair of the Board of Directors.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Resources Development and Fund-raising: Work with the Artistic Director and the Board to set overall objectives and create and execute a comprehensive strategy of financial development and support, focusing on such key constituencies as individual donors and foundations through grant writing, special appeals, and events.
Marketing and Public Relations: Develop marketing/communication objectives, and implement tactics to market the chorus and to develop audiences. Engage with current and potential stakeholders — audience, donors, funders, other arts organizations and the community.
Strategic Planning: Work with the Board to develop and implement the strategic plan. Do annual assessment of
Financial Management: Work with the Treasurer and Board to prepare budgets and manage financial operations in accordance with approved budget and applicable standards.
Board Support: Work with the Board, including scheduling committee meetings, preparing agendas, distributing minutes, preparing and presenting reports, and following up on action items.
Administrative: Manage the Mendelssohn Club office and staff. Orient, support and collaborate with volunteers in key administrative roles. Oversee concert production.
$50,000-$70,000 — commensurate with experience.

Comfortable working with an engaged Board
Professional experience with an arts organization
Experience managing organizational finances
Fundraising and grant writing experience
Knowledge of foundations and other philanthropic sources
