PosturePlast: in Trials 78% of Chronic Back Pain Sufferers Found Relief
In trials, PosturePlast, the drug-free adhesive support developed by an osteopath, was found to give “significant” pain relief to 78% of chronic back pain sufferers in just 7 days.
Nottingham, UK, January 27, 2012 -(PressReleasePoint)- The NHS claims that one in five people will visit their GP at some point this year suffering from a bad back.
PosturePlast (http://www.postureplast.co.uk/) relieves lower back pain by addressing the root cause of most ‘mechanical’ back problems, bad posture. A unique X-shaped adhesive support for the lower back, PosturePlast contains an innovative flexible strut. Developed by an osteopath (http://www.postureplast.co.uk/what-is-postureplast/the-expertise.aspx ), PosturePlast is based on the proven principle of taping, to control the range of movement and correct posture, which in turn reduces pain and helps prevent re-injury.
Trials have taken place to understand how effective chronic back pain sufferers found the product. Using a combination of NHS and private physiotherapy patients, 92 chronic or acute lower back pain sufferers used PosturePlast for one week, tracking their pain levels using the recognised Oswestry Pain Disability questionnaire. After just one week 78 per cent of chronic back pain sufferers reported that PosturePlast significantly reduced their pain2. This is particularly interesting in light of the fact that a leading health retailer found that 60 per cent of sufferers are dissatisfied with their current treatment options1.
Other findings include:
90 per cent felt that PosturePlast prevented poor posture (one of the main causes of lower back pain) and 83 per cent said PosturePlast improved posture.
84 per cent said the product made them realise how many times we sit, lift and twist poorly during the day.
80 per cent felt that PosturePlast would prevent them from over-stretching their lower back (again, a key cause of back pain).
Osteopath and inventor of PosturePlast, Adam Dallison said: “In developing PosturePlast, I wanted to create something simple yet effective that would both help people with back pain to get on with their lives, but importantly, would also help them change the habits that had contributed to the onset of pain in the first place. Back pain can be incredibly debilitating and whilst I am pleased with all of the results from the trial, one of the most important findings for me is that the patients in the trial perceived that their “happiness” levels doubled after using PosturePlast. To know that it can help improve someone’s quality of life feels incredible.”
PosturePlast is drug-free meaning it can be used in conjunction with other treatments, worn when pregnant, when driving or even when operating machinery. Customers can buy Postureplast (http://www.postureplast.co.uk/buy.aspx ) from http://www.postureplast.co.uk in various sized packs. Prices start from £4.00 for a single pack, a four-pack costs £14.40 and a pack of 10, £29.00.
About Us
PosturePlast is a class I medical device, which has been designed by Osteopath Adam Dallison to both provide pain relief for lower back pain, as well as helping encourage correct posture in the wearer. It takes the principle of the clinically proven method of taping, used by osteopaths and physiotherapists for many years, but makes it easy for people to use on their own. Trials were carried out on PosturePlast between May and July 2010 in conjunction with four GPs surgeries and after consultation with the President of the Society for Back Pain Research.
1. Research undertaken by Boots on 3,500 back pain sufferers
2. Research undertaken on behalf of PosturePlast in conjunction with four GP surgeries between May and July 2010.
