Pre-Professional Dance Company Offers Apprenticeship to Young Dancer

For Immediate Release - Atlanta Georgia - Alexis Ruby of Atlanta auditioned over the summer for a position with "Susan Chambers Musical Theatre Company" and was offered the position as apprentice dancer in all companies. Auditions for company lasted a grueling 10 hours of back to back choreography, vocal and acting. Advancement was dependant upon having a well rounded performance in each area of performing arts. Alexis made all auditions through senior level and was offered an apprentice position by letter. Once accepted Alexis will then audition for casting opportunities within the varied Broadway based performance and competition numbers. All parts will be cast by audition.

A not-for-profit organization founded in 1988, The Susan Chambers Dance Company exists as a theatrical dance outlet for pre-professional dancers ages 7+ to increase artistic opportunities in the field of classical ballet, tap, jazz and musical theater. The Company, under the direction of Susan Chambers, presents the universal language of dance through concerts, lectures and demonstrations. These performances are presented in theaters, senior citizen’s homes, studios, etc.

The Company is unique in its commitment to performing all forms of theater dance, in addition to classical ballet. Among the many benefits provided by the Company are opportunities for the community to become interested in dance as a profession, as well as the opportunity to become an informed and appreciative audience. In turn, the Company is benefited through dance performances that are made available to the entire community, including those that would normally not be able to participate and enjoy this dance venue such as assisted living and senior citizen homes, underprivileged children and inner-city audiences.

Alexis will be relocating from South Georgia where she was a member of the largest award winning company in that area, the Southern Dazzle Dance Company; directed by Regina Clark, a "Teacher of the Year" winner by Tremaine Dance Convention and owner of Regina's School of Dance which was chosen by "Dance Spirit" Magazine to be included in the Top 100 Studios in the country.

The eleven year old pre-professional dancer has won many various dance awards during her dance career thus far beginning at age six: 2nd Overall Highest Score of the Day (ballet solo) from DTI Dance Competition, DTI Mini VIP and Mini Dancer of the Year and more recently: JUMP VIP finalist and scholarship recipient, Tremaine Jr and Teen Scholarship recipient and Jr. Dancer of the Year semi-finalist; West Coast Mini Overall Dancer and NYCDA Scholarship winner to name a few. Her ambition is to one day perform on Broadway, be a feature choreographer at various dance conventions and direct her own dance convention.
