President Eric Barron and Provost Nick Jones, among others, welcomed Penn State's incoming class during the Fall 2014 President's New Student Convocation on Aug. 23 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus. Convocation marks the beginning of the new academic year and is the official welcome to the University academic community. The event, required for first-year students, is part of Welcome Week, which includes more than 100 programs designed to introduce first-year, change-of-campus and transfer students to their new home. Welcome Week at Penn State kicked off with the Fall 2014 President's New Student Convocation followed by a reception at the HUB-Robeson Center on Aug. 23. The reception welcomed all Penn State freshmen and included entertainment, refreshments and a chance to chat with new friends.

President Barron hosted the reception for the 2014 freshman class following New Student Convocation ceremonies at the Bryce Jordan Center held earlier in the evening.
