PREVIEW: Sharks straight back into One-Day Cup action at Surrey

Yasir Arafat celebrates his first half-century in domestic cricket since 2004

Sussex Sharks are straight back into Royal London One-Day Cup action today as they take on Surrey at the Kia Oval (2.00pm start).

The Sharks will be buoyed by their first victory of the campaign lastnight as they beat Durham by three wickets to pull off a remarkable win at The County Ground.

Will Beer and Yasir Arafat put together an unbroken stand of 97 from 88 balls, a record Sussex eighth-wicket stand in List A cricket. Beer hit his highest score in the format for Sussex with an unbeaten 45, and Arafat followed up his three wickets earlier in the day to claim the Man of the Match Award.

Sussex’s squad remains unchanged from lastnight’s match against a Surrey side who also got off the mark in the Group B table yesterday as they tied with Kent.

The Sussex squad is as follows:

WAT Beer

BC Brown (wkt)

C Cachopa

LJ Hatchett

EC Joyce (capt)

CJ Liddle

MW Machan

CD Nash

SA Piolet

LWP Wells

LJ Wright

SAA Zaidi

Yasir Arafat
