Turley Associates make the decision to invest in Union Square

Leading UK consultancy Turley Associates has purchased Union Square for AEC Professionals to provide an integrated approach to information management. The 180-person planning and urban design consultancy comprises of ten offices and has just reached its 30th year of trading. Turley Associates operates mainly in the residential and retail sectors, but its portfolio spans across a wide range of other areas, including energy and education. Executive Director for Finance and Resources, Paul Deehan, talks to us about the decision to invest in Union Square.

“As a knowledge-based business our aspiration is to provide clients with advice based upon our cumulative knowledge and experience, but our current systems weren’t geared up for this. Our documents were being managed through a yellow folder structure and employees would add their own directories as required, causing a lack of standardisation and poor searchability. We also had standalone systems for project management and CRM and this lack of integration meant our client management was disjointed. To ensure we could capture, access and share our information across the entire business we needed a smarter sharing mechanism.”

Paul discovered Union Square for AEC Professionals during his search for an information management solution. The industry-specific system centralises all business documents and data in a web-based portal, allowing for increased searchability and access to data from any PC with an internet connection.

A cold call from Union Square came just at the right time. Looking into the system, I was impressed with the professionalism, the business credibility and the fact that the system is industry-specific. Union Square ticked a lot of boxes and colleagues gave positive feedback too explains Paul.

Union Square will provide a solution to the standardisation and document management issues faced by Turley Associates. By centralising all practice data and linking with the existing Access Dimensions finance system, Union Square will provide an integrated approach to information management. Time spent searching for data will be greatly reduced and cumulative business knowledge will easily be shared amongst all employees.

Paul is planning to implement the document management, project management and CRM functionality in early September.
