Edinburgh, United Kingdom., February 24, 2014 - (PressReleasePoint) -

Richard Turton became a Jim’s Mowing franchisee in February 2011, and despite the great British weather he has seen his profits flourish year on year.

Richard, who covers the Merseyside area for Jim’s Mowing, had no real gardening experience before he took up his franchise and worked for the Bank of Scotland for 23 years in the Corporate Banking division. But after attending the National Franchise exhibition, and researching the background of Jim’s Mowing heavily via the internet, he decided this was an opportunity too good to miss.

The Jim’s Mowing franchise is largest lawn mowing and garden maintenance franchise in the world and services over 10, 000 clients every day. It was started in Melbourne, Australia, in 1989 and now has over 2000 worldwide franchisees.

Since Richard began in February 2011 everything has gone really well, despite the weather.

“What really appealed to me about Jim’s Mowing is the franchisee is free to run his franchise the wayhe wants to, with minimal interference. The same get excellent support and good training, but he is free to select the services he wants to offer and also free to select the magazines, newspapers he wants to advertise in. There are regular visits from his regional manager but they do not hassle you. So it is just like running his own business, but with the support of a very successful franchise in the background''. explains Richard.

He admits he would definitely say that so far the experience has been very rewarding. The main challenge is the UK’s unpredictable weather and also surviving the winter months. The summer months, say from Easter to October, look after themselves and are particularly rewarding. Like any outdoor business the franchisee rely on the weather and the summer is really when he has to make his money, although the UK weather plays havoc with everyone's plans all year round.

“My turnover for the last business year was £68, 000, with a net profit of £20, 000; I’m hoping to improve on this again this year''.
