July 21, 2010, Washington, DC- The Public Safety Alliance today applauded Senator Jay Rockefeller, IV, Chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee (D - WV), for announcing his intention to introduce legislation directing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to allocate the D Block to public safety and identifying funding to build and maintain a nationwide interoperable public safety broadband network.

"We appreciate Chairman Rockefeller's leadership in the Senate on this critical public safety issue and look forward to working with him and his colleagues to secure the spectrum and funding public safety professionals need to ensure the safety of our nation's citizens, residents and visitors," said Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald, Storrey County, Iowa, National Sheriffs' Association President and Public Safety Alliance representative.
