Paris, France, February 5, 2014Qosmos®, the market leader in embedded Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and network intelligence technology, today announced that it has joined the OpenDaylight Project, a community-led and industry-supported open source platform to advance Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), to accelerate the adoption of SDN and NFV. Since launching in April 2013, the project has brought together 33 companies supporting the work of hundreds of developers in the OpenDaylight community.

SDN and NFV-based architectures enable enterprises, carriers and equipment providers to achieve interoperability. At the OpenDaylight Summit in Santa Clara, OpenDaylight announced availability of its first open source software release called Hydrogen – an open platform for network programmability to enable SDN and create a solid foundation for NFV for networks at any size and scale.

“OpenDaylight provides a neutral setting where developers from any organization can collaborate to build an open, common architecture for SDN and NFV,” said Neela Jacques, Executive Director for OpenDaylight. “It’s exciting to see the membership of OpenDaylight continue to diversity with the addition of organizations like Qosmos. We look forward to their participation and contributions to the community.”

“SDN and NFV will provide a step-function improvement in network efficiency and service innovation,” said Jerome Tollet, CTO, Qosmos. “As an industry-wide initiative, OpenDaylight is a catalyst for the accelerated development of a new generation of networks based on openness and interoperability.”
