Gamified recruitment tool challenges applicants to schedule shifts for eleven bus drivers across three lines
Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), has launched a gamified recruitment tool to enlist the best talent.
The ComBUStion challenge simulates a bus driver shift schedule. The player works in the planning department, and is challenged to create an optimum work schedule for 11 drivers on three lines, over 14 days. The closer the schedule is to optimum efficiency, the happier the simulated boss and the drivers will be.
The challenge is accessible to anyone through the Quintiq careers website. Those who score over 85% are automatically eligible for a job interview with the company that has 16 offices worldwide. Quintiq also awards iPads to the top scorers on a monthly basis.
An initial trial of the ComBUStion challenge in Malaysia has had over 3,500 entrants and 15,000 attempts. The bulk of the entrants did not score above 80% optimality and only 9% attained scores above 90%. So far, only 27 entrants have had perfect scores.
A top scorer from Kuala Lumpur, Boo Soon Ting, said: “ComBUStion is a simple yet very challenging planning puzzle. The schedule needs to be carefully planned from the start and optimized at the end”.
