Radicon can offer drop in gearboxes into a wide range of industries and applications from steel through to power generation whilst ensuring the new drop in solutions are engineered to the exact specifications of the current gearbox. This eliminates a major obstacle in the upgrade of existing gearboxes, as costly plant modifications and downtime are eradicated or minimised.

Radicon’s application engineering team has the necessary experience and expertise to engineer drop in gearboxes on a like for like basis. This enables Radicon to engineer solutions that look to increase power and torque whilst occupying the same footprint as the existing gearbox. In addition to incorporating modern technology to ensure the new gearboxes require less maintenance and are easier to maintain for whole life cost benefits.

The new drop in solution gearboxes are designed, engineered and supplied to the high levels of service the Radicon customer base is accustomed to.

Radicon recently supplied a drop in replacement to a major UK End User for the manufacture of steel. The requirement was for an existing gearbox to be replaced without any modifications to the surrounding mounting base, equipment and with minimal downtime.
The gearbox supplied was a single helical gearbox with a ratio of 1/1, having a single extension solid input shaft and double output shafts, to transmit 17kW at a speed of 263RPM. To ensure suitability to withstand the duty the gearbox offers a service factor of 8.24 for strength in accordance with AGMA 2001-B88 selection criteria.
