Rafael Anchia Receives Gregg Cooke Award for Excellence in Environmental Leadership

Dallas,TX – Nov.10, 2011 -- State Representative and Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Rafael Anchia received the Gregg Cooke Award for Excellence in Environmental Leadership at the annual Clean Air Through Energy Efficiency (CATEE) Conference Nov. 9 for his inspiration to others through creative and cooperative problem-solving and his passion and reason in the pursuit of environmental protection.

Previous recipients of the award include James Marston of the Environmental Defense Fund and Robert J. King of Good Company Associates, among others.

Mr. Anchia has regularly championed key pieces of environmental legislation during his tenure in Austin. This year, he was the House sponsor of a number of bills related to energy efficiency, distributed renewable generation and energy storage that became law.

CATEE is a premier educational conference aimed at government, development and civic leaders with the purpose of heightening awareness and facilitating implementation of successful policies and investments that reduce energy and water intensity and reduce emissions. Awards recognize leadership efforts and exemplary achievements in helping to reduce harmful air emissions through policies, programs or projects that increase energy efficiency or the use of renewable energy sources.

At Haynes and Boone, Mr. Anchia represents financial institutions and public and private funds in a variety of transactions involving senior and subordinated debt and equity, domestic and international syndications and distressed debt acquisitions and sales, among other things.

In July, President Barack Obama appointed Mr. Anchia to the national Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations, a panel of industry group representatives and public officials that advises the U.S. Trade Representative on trade agreements.
