MSU is hosting a number of events throughout April in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and how to prevent it.
Highlights of MSU's April events related to SAAM are listed below.
Teal Ribbon Award Ceremony
4-5 p.m., April 3, Red Cedar Room AB of the Kellogg Center
The Teal Ribbon Award is given annually to recognize departments that have shown leadership and commitment to creating awareness and reducing sexual violence in MSU’s campus community. Recipients of the 2014 Teal Ribbon Award will be recognized at the ceremony.
MSU WRC Women’s Day of Service
9 a.m.-2 p.m., April 12, McDonel Hall Kiva
The Women’s Day of Service gives the MSU community the opportunity to give back through the Lansing City Rescue Mission, the Greater Lansing Food Bank and the Haven House.
Race for the Place 5K
1 p.m., April 13, Jenison Field House
Race for the Place is the largest annual fundraiser for MSU Safe Place, a program that provides services to people who experience relationship violence and stalking in the greater Lansing communities.
Take Back the Night
10 a.m.-10 p.m., April 15, Beaumont Field
Take Back the Night is a daylong series of events that raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence. For information about the local event, visit the .
Title IX No Excuse for Sexual Assault Awareness Day
