RBC Capital Markets' Canadian Equity Research Group Tops Brendan Wood International's 2011 Rankings

Eighteen RBC analysts receive "TopGun" designation

TORONTO, October 19, 2011 —RBC Capital Markets, for the second year in a row, ranked as the industry's top Equity Research group with an industry-leading share of 18 "TopGun" analysts, according to the 2011 Brendan Wood International (BWI) Review of Institutional Equity Research, Sales and Trading Performance in Canada.

To compile the rankings, 452 sell-side analysts were evaluated by Canadian and international portfolio managers and buy-side analysts against the various criteria for a total of 3,816 sector evaluations and 11,612 company-specific evaluations.

The annual BWI study, now in its 32nd year, rated 18 RBC Capital Markets analysts as "TopGuns", the most of all the broker dealers, marking the third year in a row that RBC has received this level of recognition. A "TopGun" analyst is one who finishes in the top three in their individual sector. Six first-place, nine second-place and three third-place rankings were awarded to RBC analysts.

The BWI study also recognized RBC Capital Markets' analysts as having the best overall ranking across all the remaining categories:
