REC at Ecobuild 2013: Innovative solar electricity solutions for a cleaner future
Munich – February 28, 2013: REC, the largest European supplier of solar panels, will be present at Ecobuild 2013 from March 5-7, 2013 in London, England.
REC representatives will be at booth S.2135 discussing innovative and affordable solar electricity solutions as well as presenting its industry-leading REC Partner Program for distributors and project developers and the REC Solar Professional Program for installers.
“For us at REC, the UK is a very promising market and we expect that the market will reach between 600 and 800 MW in 2014 and 2015,” said Luc Graré, Senior Vice President Solar Sales and Marketing, REC. “We see a strong demand for ground-mount segments based on a predictable feed-in tariff and Renewable Obligation regimes. Therefore, we are committed to the UK solar market and are keen to establish new long-term partnerships and expand our project business activities in the UK, offering investors a low-risk investment and attractive return on investment.”
Together with its partners, REC has already installed and sold more than 45 MW in the UK and is seeing a growing demand for larger-scale solar power plants as well as 50 kW to 1 MW commercial installations spurred by increasing electricity costs.
While energy prices rise every year, solar electricity is protecting consumers by providing a stable and secure source of electricity at a steady price and is becoming a vital part of the UK’s energy mix. REC is well positioned with its high-performing REC Peak Energy Series solar panels and proven long-term product quality, meeting the energy yield requirements, which are key criteria for commercial installations.
Solar electricity is a prime example of declining system prices compared to other renewable energy technologies. With the average price of solar electricity now 80 percent less than in 2007, solar electricity is an economically viable solution across the UK. Even in areas with sparse solar irradiation, REC panels still have high output. In comparison, wind energy achieved a cost reduction of 17 percent in the same time frame. This development warrants a favorable investment outlook in the future for solar electricity.
